Candidates desirous of applying for the examination may visit the official website (www.ipindia.nic.in) between 11th February 2013 (11:00 a.m.) and 11th March 2013 (05:00 p.m.) and apply online. Detailed instructions are posted and applications will be required to be filed strictly in accordance with the said instructions. The candidates will be required to feed the details into the online system and take a printout of the application form. The said application form along with the necessary enclosures and examination fee should reach the following address on or before 25th March 2013 (05:00 p.m.):

Applications incomplete in any respect or received after 25 th March 2013 (05:00 p.m.) will not be entertained. The centre for examination will be communicated to the candidates in due course and all the candidates are advised to regularly visit the official website for updates.

The Patent Agent Examination will be held on 4th and 5th May 2013 at five different centers (Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Nagpur) across the country. You can fill the form by visiting the website www.ipindia.nic.in and for registration a link is present:“Online registration for Patent Agent Examination 2013.”

All aspirants keen to fill the form should follow the format and these documents are to be attached with the examination form.

A. First of all aspirants have to create a new id on the link given at ipindia.nic.in.

B. After registering you can log on to the main menu of Patent Agent Examination.

C. Logging on to the site results in the main menu for the Patent Agent Examination where there are four main headings which are:

  • Application
  • Print/View the Submitted Application
  • Update profile
  • Change password

D. In the main menu of Patent Agent Examination by clicking on Application link, user can enter details required for filing application.

E. All the details entered in the application can be saved by clicking the save button and the same can be seen by clicking on view button.

F. The application can be edited anytime before final submission to the Patent Office. It should be noted down that no changes can be made to the application after submission.

G. The application can be submitted to the Patent Office after saving by clicking on the button ‘Submit to Patent Office‘ and the same can be printed afterwards by using ‘Print application‘ option.

H. The printed copy of the application is to be sent with the demand draft and all other documents, attested or in original.

NOTE :

a. The Demand Draft is of Rs 1000 to be drawn in favor of “Controller of Patents” payable at   Mumbai branch.

b. Your Matriculation Certificate to be attached as your age proof

c. You can take Character Certificate it from your college or from any Class I and Class II (Gazetted) public servants.

(Class I or Group A (Gazetted) – Public servants

Example – Central and State Governments Employee with Group A service rules; Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Deputy Registrar, Assistant Registrar, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor of Central and State Universities; Principals, Doctors, Engineers, Assistant Commandants and above, Magistrate and above in judicial services, Lieutenant or equivalent and above in the defense setup etc.

Class II or Group B (Gazetted)– Public servants in administrative roles

Example – Block Development Officer, Sub-Divisional Officer, Central Excise Superintendent (Group-B Executive), Principal of Government Schools, Income Tax Officer etc.)

d. Address of branch office is the name of Patent office from which jurisdiction you are filing the form For Example: If you are filing the form from Delhi or the area within the jurisdiction of Delhi patent office then Delhi is to be mentioned as Address of branch office.

e. If you don’t have your degree certificate you can attach your Provisional Certificate or your Final semester Mark sheet. Format for the character certificate is given below.
