Hello and welcome to The Patkey Show. And today’s three questions are :

Q.1 I am from a computer science background, computer engineering. Is this course helpful for me?

Q.2 I have done B. Pharma. And M. Pharma. Can I become a patent agent and get a good job?

Q3. I am mechanical engineering background. Will it be difficult for me to study and pass this examination? How can you help me?

I’m Kirtiman Sharma.

Cheshta

and I am Cheshta Sharma.

Kirtiman

And in this show, we talk about tips and tricks on how to qualify for the paid examination conducted by the government of India. So Cheshta, let’s get into the show and let’s answer the first question. The first question is, I am a computer engineering background student, and is this examination helpful for me?

Cheshta

Yes, absolutely. It is helpful for you if you are from a computer engineering background and you are one who is passionate about technology. Generally, computer engineering students end up doing a support job in It companies because I have some students who don’t want to go into support, who want to go into core technology like AI, blockchain, and robotics. So, this is a very good field to start your career with. Because when you become a patent professional, every day you get to read about new technology. Like, I’m working with a company that is using artificial intelligence to find cures for various diseases. So when you read a lot of technologies, every day, you are working in the core of innovation so you can build a great career into this. You can utilize the knowledge of your computer engineering, renew technology every day, help inventors and CEOs of a company get patents on their products and launch new products in new markets.

Kirtiman

All right. That’s a good answer. Yeah. So the second question is, I have done B. Pharma. And M. Pharma. Can I become a patent agent and get a good job?

Cheshta

Yes, absolutely. First of all, you are eligible to appear for examination because all people who have science background B.Pharma. In your case, you are 100% eligible to appear for this examination. And the second part you ask, can I get a good job? Absolutely, yes. Let’s say your dream goal is to apply to any Pharma company like Dr. Reddy’s or GSK Pharma. So all these companies have patent teams inside these companies. So you can apply for a job in the patent teams. You can start your career as a patent agent, the patent officer in such companies where your role will be to collaborate between RND and management. So from RND, you will get new inventions, let’s say related to delivery or formulation every day. As a patent professional, you have to analyze that this is a new invention and you will be then collaborating with management that yes, you have a new innovation inside your company and you want to get a patent in maybe ten different countries where the company is thinking to launch the product in the future. And Pharma is like upcoming. There’s a lot of buzz around Pharma vaccine patents nowadays. So you have a good future ahead in this field.

Kirtiman

All right. So B.Tech, Computer Sciences also have a great future and pharmaceutical students again have a bright future as a patent agent. So the third question is for mechanical engineering. I am from mechanical engineering background. Studying and passing this examination feels like a very difficult task for me.

Cheshta

I understand more of a statement. I understand that you are a mechanical engineer and you feel that studying this will be difficult. But in our program, in our mentorship program, we follow SSL framework where we start with the basic concepts and then add an example to it and then go to reading a legal text. So I don’t think so. That will be a challenge for you. Once you understand this, then reading a legal text is just reading something else which has a similar meaning. So you will be easily able to grab that. Plus in the second paper you have an added edge above others because in patent drafting questions, which are two questions in paper too, which is of 60 marks. There are two inventions which are related to core engineering in which there’s a product. It will give drawings of that product. Upside view, top view. So which you as a mechanical engineer must have done engineering drawing in your engineering. So this knowledge of studying any product from an engineering perspective will be an added advantage to you as compared to other people because you can understand, okay, this is a product, this is a front end and distillant.

Cheshta

So you are already aware about all these terminologies and all the manufacturing companies and all mechanical companies, all automobile companies. They need people like you who are good in mechanical engineering who understand engineering drawing or maybe you have a little bit knowledge of CAD. These all things gives you an extra edge above other people.

Kirtiman

Yeah. So nowadays in India, the defence sector means a lot of mechanical engineers and all types of engineers, I think. And it’s growing leaps and bounds sector and the manufacturing sector as a whole. In today’s question, all the engineers are asking about the bright future or any future. Computer science, B. Pharma. M. Pharma. and Mechanical engineering. If you are also one of these people who are looking to qualify the Patent Agent examination, I would suggest that go for the free masterclass and the link is in the description. You can see the links. It’s a free masterclass. All your queries about the prospects of the job and how to qualify the exam, how to prepare all the companies which hire you can ask live Q and A during the webinar. So all these things will be covered. I suggest you go for the webinar and if you have any more questions like these great questions asked by viewers, please ask them in the comments section. Thank you for listening. I’m Kirtiman Sharma.

Cheshta

I’m Cheshta thank you so much.
