How a M.Sc graduate fresher can start her career in IP Industry

This is the success story of our alumni, Vartika Sarang. She completed her B.Sc and M.Sc in Biotechnology from Jamia Hamdard, Delhi. She got placed at AnovIP, Delhi.

She shared her interview experience, mentioning the 2 rounds. In one of the rounds, she was given a random patent on which she needed to write a summary of the invention, in another round, it was a face-to-face interview.

She also mentioned the challenges she faced working inside the labs, which were faced by her after the completion of her M.Sc. For all these reasons, she no longer desired to work in the same. One of her professors from the university told her about the domain and scope of IPR.

She also completed one month course in bio-informatics and genomics for one month from Maitryee College, University of Delhi and then encountered the Covid Pandemicc lockdown. She lost hope of grabbing any opportunity.

Finally, after a lot of research she found IIPTA and after attending one demo class of Job oriented patent analyst training (JOPAT) she decided to get herself enrolled.

In this 3-months JOPAT program of IIPTA, she learned about laws associated with trademarks, copyrights, and patents in India and the U.S. and how they are helpful in the IPR industry. Also, he learned about patent searching in databases. Indian Patent Office (IPO), United States Patents and Trademarks (USPTO), European Patent Office (EPO), Google Patents and World Intellectual property Organization (WIPO).
