Augmented reality (AR), is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. It is related to a more general concept called computer-mediated reality, in which a view of reality is modified (possibly even diminished rather than augmented) by a computer. Augmented reality enhances one’s current perception of reality, whereas in contrast, virtual reality replaces the real world with a simulated one. Augmentation techniques are typically performed in real time and in semantic context with environmental elements, such as overlaying supplemental information like scores over a live video feed of a sporting event.
With the help of advanced AR technology the information about the surrounding real world of the user becomes interactive and digitally manipulable. Information about the environment and its objects is overlaid on the real world. This information can be virtual or real, e.g. seeing other real sensed or measured information such as electromagnetic radio waves overlaid in exact alignment with where they actually are in space. Augmented reality brings out the components of the digital world into a person’s perceived real world.
US 9,690,374 B2: AUGMENTED REALITY TRANSITION SYSTEM AND METHOD
The patent comprises an audio visual system, which comprises of a user electronic device generating a virtual environment. A tracking device in in communication with user electronic device. The tracking device tracking the position and movement of user electronic device in ambient environment. It also consists of a processor configured to translate the detect movement of user electronic device in ambient environment generated by user electronic device. It also detects a transition condition which detects an external input recognized as a request from an external party for transition of user electronic device between the virtual environment and the ambient environment. It also compares a distance between user electronic device and atleast one boundary of a tracking area tracked by tracking device within ambient environment or compare a distance between user electronic device and atleast one boundary of tracking area is less than or equal to preset threshold distance and perform transition between the virtual environment generated by user electronic device and ambient environment in response to the detected transition condition.
Conclusion
Augmented reality has occupied a top-notch position in terms of technology advancement, whether it is a snapchat or google the series of patent being filed in this field is continuingly increasing.
